Summer-Ready Soiree at Red Butte Garden

An elegant day of love, full of romantic elements and modern flair for every future bride’s dream late-spring wedding date.

THE COUPLE

Hailey and Danny’s love was simply meant to be. The pair met at age 6, when Hailey moved into her future Prince Charming’s first grade class. When they came to official dating age, they really hit it off, dating through high school and writing for the entirety of Danny’s two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Of course, these lovebirds picked things off right where they left off upon his return!

“When he got home, we started using an app called ‘One Second a Day,’ where you record one memorable second of each day, and the app compiles it all into a video,” Hailey said. Little did she know, Danny was planning for so much more than the Instagrams, with their video.

One winter night, Danny and Hailey embarked on a fancy date night, gifted to them by Danny’s siblings for a babysitting gig, and hit the town for dinner, hot chocolate and Christmas Light gazing.

“He wanted to watch our video, but I was freezing and wanted to leave, but he insisted,” Hailey laughs. “We were watching when I realized there were some clips I hadn’t seen, and they started spelling out, ‘Will You Marry Me?'”

She said yes!

THE WEDDING

Hailey and Danny sealed the deal in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on May 2, 2019, and had a party to boot at Red Butte Gardens to follow.

Hailey, a plant and floral fiend, loved the greenery of the venue and that her guests were able to enjoy the gardens while they celebrated. Red Butte’s Orangerie, with its floor-to-ceiling windows lent a bright and natural vibe to the evening.

“I was a TA for an interior plants class at BYU, and I’ve worked at various shops, so I was obsessed with all of the plants at the venue.”

Hailey’s gown was an elegant custom floral-applique number from BHLDN, and she wore a custom-designed, floral-inspired ring to match.

THE MOOD

“I love the elegant, romantic, dreamy weddings, and that’s what I was going for,” says Hailey.

Among soft pinks and elegant gold details, Hailey and her team inserted pops of summer-ready orange into the event’s décor. Kumquats from California added a modern romantic punch to this warm evening’s mood.
More modern meets the classic palette in the form of tastefully placed acryllic signage and sleek paper suites, created by Hailey’s father!  Our favorites? The “All About Us” signs they created. They included facts and statistics about Hailey and Danny’s relationship. How fun to remember fun details from years together while planning the wedding?

THE MENU

The one thing Hailey was adamant about was gelato. After traveling to Italy the summer before her big day, she developed an obsession, and had to have the sweet treat! For the main course, An Exquisite Affair catered dainty croissant sandwiches and appetizers.

Steph’s Cakes created a stunning, seamless cake, with one tier of chocolate and one tier of coconut lime – a fitting mix of classic and fun!

THE TUNES

This wedding finished up with a dance party for the ages. Apparently the guests (especially the nieces and nephews) thought it was the best part of the night.

Danny and Hailey danced their first husband + wife waltz to “Beyond” by Leon Bridges, with sweet gazes enough to melt your heart.

A vintage convertible to match the color scheme (and the groomsmen’s hosiery) served as the escape carriage for the couple, bringing just the perfect pinch of class and unique flare to the end of this elegant, unforgettable wedding.
