The Couple

Amy and Nick met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. “We spent the weekend bonding over our shared love of hiking and the outdoors. When we said goodbye, we knew it wouldn’t be the last time we saw each other,” Amy explains. three-and-a-half years later–and four days after completing the Chicago marathon together–Nick surprised Amy with a trip to Death Valley National Park in California. There, he proposed to Amy after they hiked 11,000 feet to Telescope Peak.

“He had carried the ring, along with a small bottle of champagne, a fresh loaf of bread and fancy cheese to celebrate. There were a few people on top who took our photo, and it felt like we floated the whole way down.”

The Wedding

“We decided that we would get married in Utah because we went hiking in Utah on our first date,” Amy says. Utah’s mountains and geographical locations made it the ideal destination for the big day. Guests–some traveling from around the world–stayed at Sundance Mountain Resort and began the wedding weekend with a mountain top rehearsal dinner at Sundance’s Bearclaw Cabin.

“Our guests had to take two chairlifts to reach the cabin, but it was worth it. The weather was perfect, we had summery cocktails, great barbecue and handed out customized blankets for the ride down,” Amy says. The next day, the duo joined in a ceremony that they wrote themselves. “We chose to repeat the same vows, rather than write separate ones. In the end, it was wonderful to seal our commitment to each other with words we cad crafted together.

The Mood

With the help of Silver Summit Events, Amy and Nick unveiled a funky, playful, forested scene–using lush blooms and elegant decor in hues of forest green, peachy pink, gold and bright and rusty orange hues. “We had the barn doors open so our gusts could enjoy the bistro tables on the boardwalk next to the river,” Amy says. Additional bars, two fire pits and lounge furniture provided gathering spaces for the guests. The most unique part of the wedding was a visit from two llamas–a surprise from Amy to Nick.

The Menu

“We chose menu items inspired by locally available ingredients and wanted to make sure we had a variety of choices for our guests who travelled from near and far to celebrate with us,” Amy says.

Cocktail hour featured artisan cheeses with local accoutrements, along with hummus and homemade pita. For dinner, guest chose from pepper-crusted beef filet with mango chutney, pan-seared trout filet with brown butter sauce and vegetarian goat-cheese tart with roasted peppers. “WE also added a few delightful desserts to accompany our Funfetti cake; chocolate chip bread pudding and assorted cookies and brownies.”

The Tunes

“Our main goal with music was to make sure our guests had fun and could dance. The band played a variety of oldies and new pop. Everyone ended up on the dance floor at some point during the night,” Amy says. Amy and Nick danced to a favorite Bob Marley tune, ‘Is This Love’ for their first dance. “This song spoke to us because th refrain says, ‘I want to love you and treat you right.”

The Honeymoon

Amy and Nick flew first to Chile and then to Argentina. “We spent two days in Ushuaia, ten days traveling in Patagonia (including five nights in mountain huts), and finished up in Buenos Aires. We saw glaciers, mountains and animals. We visited the famed secret bars of the Palermo Hollywood neighborhood, made friends and met farmers, ate empanadas and steak and drank all of the Argentine wine we could. It was our dream trip. Traveling to Patagonia had always been something we wanted to do and we decided that it was the perfect honeymoon because it combined the outdoors, culture and delicious food.”

Autumn Bridal Inspiration

“The weather was perfect and the backdrop was exactly what I had hoped it would be. The details of the lace and beading on the dress brought this entire shoot together. The button-up sleeves are to die for! I was swooning over the open back and the tan under-layer that brought so much contrast to the lace train. The hat and the boots added an extra “western boho” vibe that I was so beyond obsessed with! From the rich orange bushes, the gorgeous mountain landscape and the baby blue skies; this photoshoot turned out perfectly!” –Kaitlyn Tate Photography

Utah’s Own Italian Riviera

Just because you’re skipping the 15-hour flight, doesn’t mean you can’t take a few cues from one of Italy’s most stunning regions. Just a few details can make you and your guests feel like you’ve been whisked away to to Italia.

Greenery, florals, and rustic details in the stationery foreshadow an Italian-inspired wedding.

Drawing inspiration from Italy’s rich countryside can make all the difference in embellishing a lively outdoor affair. We suggest bringing in landscaping features like terra-cotta and topiaries.

Use string lights to help set the scene. Dining al fresco is a great way to make your reception feel like it’s set in the Italian countryside, but adding in elegant string lights will take it to the next level. Provide your guests a stunning setting in a beautiful garden reminiscent of a small Italian café.

Dine Family-Style. Bring everyone together just like they’re one big family. Utilizing one long reception table is a great way to make everyone feel included and to facilitate conversation. If you opt for this set-up, just be sure your centerpieces aren’t too tall.

Rom-Com-Worthy Real Wedding

But that’s exactly what happened on August 24th, 2020 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. She couldn’t resist checking out this blonde hair, blue-eyed guy that showed up mid-way into the party. She had an overwhelming feeling that she had met him before.

With only minutes to spare, the man she had had both of her eyes on finally came over to stand next to her at the sparkler sendoff for the newlywed best friend and her new husband.  Thinking again that they had met before, she approached him with a twinkle in her eye and said, “you look so familiar. Have we met before?”  The two strangers tried without success to discover where they might have met. Was it an online dating app like Mutual? Was it church institute? Was it somewhere he had played the piano? He finally reached out his hand and said, “Well I’m Dave. Nice to meet you. What’s your name?” She replied that her name was Brianne. “Well Brianne, we should get together for ice cream sometime when you are back in town. Do you come to Phoenix often?” Just then, Brianne’s date came back and upon discovering that Dave appeared to be interested in his Brianne decided to have some fun with the situation. Standing behind Dave he did everything he could to make Brianne laugh by making funny faces and kissy lips with his brother (who was also in attendance). He was almost successful. But right before Brianne began to lose it, she attempted to separate herself from the situation by telling Dave that her feet hurt and that she would like to retrieve her shoes from inside the church and that he should come with her. The new friends made their way into the building and soon Dave had her number. The two then separated and Brianne went on with her original date. They were away on their dating activity for the evening riding electric scooters when he said over and over again to make fun of her “you’re going to marry that man.” Little did he know how true that statement would be.

Real Wedding: Tana and Dawn

Tana and Dawn sent this message to all of the vendors a few days before their wedding, assuring that rain or shine, they were tying the knot! The week leading up to their wedding we are sure that all of us were watching the weather to see if it was going to rain. Of course, Tana and Dawn have been planning their wedding for so long that they had backup plans to their backup plans for their wedding… but we all still hoped that mother nature would cooperate and give these ladies their dream day that they hoped for.

Tana and Dawn had quite the crew to help them get ready. When you have two beautiful brides who need hair and makeup done, it can take a little while, and a few people as well. Right in the middle of the hustle and rushing back and forth to make sure everything was ready for both Tana and Dawn, a big, dark cloud could be seen coming over the mountains. We checked our phones to look at the weather, and sure enough… rain was going to come… right when the ceremony started.

No doubt, Tana and Dawn were mostly distracted by the finishing touches on their make-up, dresses, and family members to worry about the rain. But we think every single guest and vendor at the wedding looked outside and hoped, wished, and prayed that there would be even the slightest let up of the storm. When it was time for Tana and Dawn to line up to walk for their ceremony, the heavens suddenly went from gray… to blue. Minutes before the music started for the ceremony… the rain stopped… the sun broke through the clouds… and the wedding that Tana and Dawn had planned every waking minute for over a year was going to happen.

After their “I do’s” Tana and Dawn had a butterfly release planned. Family and friends meticulously placed over 150 butterflies from envelopes into a box to be opened to let them all out before they walked back down the aisle. However, since the weather was just warming back up, when the box lid was opened… the butterflies stayed in their cozy box. After a little coaching from Tana and Dawn, they started exiting the box and landing on their hands and dresses giving them literal butterfly kisses and well wishes. Days later, Tana and Dawn would report that they still saw their butterfly friends hanging around the Hyatt Centric in abundant numbers, reminding them of their perfect day.

Instead of gifts, Tana and Dawn asked for donations to the Ziegfeld Theater, who were performing Broadway tunes during their reception. With songs from Shrek the Musical to Rent, all guests were entertained and given the best show around. Between the performances, the weather, the vendors and staff, and the brides, if we were to sum up this Park City Wedding at the Hyatt Centric into one word, it would be this: perfect.

Moody Anniversary Shoot Inspiration

“Brock and I met at a concert six years ago. I was with a girlfriend and I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and I turned around and it was Brock. He told me that I was the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen and that he just had to come and introduce himself. A few days later we hung out and have been inseparable ever since. They say, “when you know, you know.” That couldn’t be more true for us. We’re truly best friends and neither one of us can imagine life without the other. We got married two years later and now have a three year old little girl that has completely stolen our hearts and changed our lives for the better. We’ve been thru so much and have grown so much both individually and together and are stronger than ever. He is my soulmate, best friend, and lover.” -Andi Emery, bride
