Real Wedding: A Chic Affair at River Bottoms Ranch

THE COUPLE

Jessie and Gabe’s journey together began in college at Santa Clara University in California. Jessie spent her formative years in Neuchatel, Switzerland, and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. She met Gabe, a native of Stockton, California, when they were neighbors at school. The couple will be celebrating nine years together this October.

THE PROPOSAL

Jessie and Gabe got engaged during a ski trip to Banff, Canada, with Jessie’s sister Kelsey and her husband Connor. After a day one the slopes, Kelsey and Connor led Jessie out to Lake Minnewanka where they walked around until they reached a lookout point, where Gabe was waiting. Gabe then escorted Jessie out onto the lake where he gave a romantic speech before getting down on one knee. After the proposal, the couple took a gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain and celebrated with a sunset dinner.

THE WEDDING

Jessie and Gabe always knew that they wanted to get married in the mountains and because they have lots of friends and family here, Utah was the natural choice for their picturesque wedding. After visiting River Bottoms Ranch, the unreal views, spacious indoor and outdoor areas, and modern barn look swept the couple off their feet.

For their wedding, Jessie and Gabe mixed classic elegance with comfortability. The couple wanted a summer wedding with an outdoor setting and lots of light and greenery. To complement the natural landscape, they chose earthy greens, soft white, and baby blue for their color pallete.

Leading up to the ceremony Gabe delivered a love letter to Jessie every hour for every year they’d been together. The letters, which totaled 8 in all, recounted the adventures and milestones of each year and served to document their love story. Without knowing that Gabe had had this planned, Jessie also prepared a letter for Gabe to read before the ceremony which included photos of her favorite memories with Gabe.

THE PARTY

For their reception, Jessie and Gabe hired a hybrid DJ/band with a saxophonist and drummer. Their first dance was a romantic number choreographed to “All of Me” by John Legend, but the couple had another surprise dance in store for their guests. After dinner, Jessie snuck off to change into her second dress while the DJ gathered everyone for the big number. Then Jessie and Gabe took to the dance floor and impressed their guests with a dance Jessie choreographed herself to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud.”

THE HONEYMOON

After their wedding, the couple took off to Croatia where they explored the islands of the Adriatic sea by boat and ate amazing seafood.
