Destination Bridals in Cathedral Gorge, Nevada

A Utah couple celebrates the beauty of the red rock with perfectly captured bridals in Cathedral Gorge.

A red-rock love affair — that is the perfect way to describe Lindsey and Garrett’s tale of romance. The pair first met on a blind double date, and there must have been sparks because when they reconnected a year later, they picked up right where they left off.

Two years later, they were prepared to seal the deal. “He proposed two years after our first date, in the late morning at Kolob Canyon,” says bride Lindsey. “It was so peaceful and beautiful — the perfect moment!”

Garrett and Lindsey stuck to their love of desert landscapes for their pre-wedding first look photoshoot. Alongside photographer Lexie Mikayle, the bride and groom trekked across the Nevada border for bridals in Cathedral Gorge, aiming to use the canyon’s impressive geological forms as a rich textural backdrop for their photos.

“I’ve always dreamed of having bridal photos that were not only beautiful but also unique,” says Lindsey. “Cathedral Gorge was perfect for that. The formations are so stunning, and I love that it’s all completely natural.”

For their bridal vignettes, Garrett donned a classic black suit, sporting a sleek black tie and dainty white boutonniere to match his bride. Lindsey’s gown, purchased at Alta Moda Bridal in Salt Lake City, was a customized piece featuring intricate full-length beading and delicate floral lace. Romantic sheer sleeves added feminine contrast to the austere forms of the canyon, and a flowing veil completed the look.

Photographer Lexie Mikayle aided the couple as they romped about the rock formations, capturing beautiful moments of love and laughter for the pair to remember fondly for years to come.
