Wedding Indulgence Wednesday: Ceremony Details
by Val Rasmussen

Talk about straying from the altar. No, we’re not talking about runaway brides. Our Wedding Indulgence Wednesday ladies are discussing altar alternatives today on their Twitter feed #WedWed. Be sure to catch @EventsbyLMG and @RiehlEvents every Wednesday at 10:30am on Twitter at #WedWed and always catch the recap here at Utah Bride & Groom.

My fave today is a collection of AMAZING ceremony spaces via Belle Magazine (@BelleMagazine_). Belle Magazine posted this roundup of some of the most beautiful, detailed and luxe ceremony spaces from around the web. These jaw-dropping ceremony spaces offer big florals, styled aisles and clear attention to show-stopping altars. When designing your wedding, don’t forget your ceremony space. Pay close attention to where you’ll be exchanging vows, a beautiful altar space is a must. You will have hundreds of ceremony photos, be sure there will be no eyesores in the background. Work with your florist or designer to develop a vision for your aisle and altar and don’t forget your chairs- every element will ultimately makeup the final vision.

I actually have two faves this week, so I’m going to ask all you Wedding Indulgence Wednesday followers and Utah Bride and Groom readers to bare with my thoughts through this one…I promise not to disappoint!

First, I have found that oftentimes brides and grooms think of ceremony design as an afterthought.  Yes, it’s where you and your guests spend the least amount of time, but isn’t it also the most important part of the day? Those are the images that you will cherish for a lifetime as will your close family and friends.  You want to make it unique and special and that’s as simple as finding the perfect ceremony venue and using small touches like the starfish hanging from the chairs in this wedding from the Every Last Detail Blog:

This is such an easy concept and brings in that unique touch to the event.  You can hang just about ANYTHING from this type of chair, a chiavari chair, or many other types of rental chairs that are out on the market right now with a gorgeous wide ribbon in your colors.  And look at this location:

Beautiful, simple and perfect (love the grass mat aisle runner too)!

Second, incorporating your ethnicity and heritage into your ceremony is as important as anything else.  World Wedding Traditions is a great resource to study those wonderful traditions and ceremonies to incorporate into your special day.

Over the years, I’ve been witness to some captivating ceremonies. On the other hand, I’ve also sat through some ho-hum ceremonies that lack personality. But, hold the phone for this wedding via OnceWed! A groom riding in on a bike cruiser? For real? I love it! Obviously, this entrance isn’t for the introverted groom. It takes a bit of a clown to pull this one off, right? I also think the playful flags tied to the chairs signifies a playful, informal couple that are not about to let the wedding rule books shape their ceremony.

What’s on your wish list for your ceremony?
