"A Fairytale Romance" Kim & Sean
Kim Johnson and Sean Blackmore - July 4, 2009 • Midway
From the courtship and the proposal to the wedding and the honeymoon, Kim and Sean’s love story reads like a real-life fairytale. Following a lavish seaside proposal, the couple planned an equally opulent wedding fit for a prince and princess. Wed on the Fourth of July, the couple married outdoors in a willow grove among hundreds of rose petals and an intimate gathering of 60 guests. After the ceremony, guests feasted from an elaborate menu, including fresh fish the groom had caught himself, paired with plenty of libations. The bride’s son and his band rocked the reception, as guests young and old danced the night away. The enchanted evening came to an end with a magical fireworks display.
Before the Wedding
Occupations: Sean is a sales consultant and Kim is a professional makeup artist in Salt Lake.
How the couple met: While working together in 1994.
How he proposed: Sean and Kim flew to Little Palm Island in Key West, an exclusive resort located on a private island. They spent four days relaxing, snorkeling and getting spa treatments. On the last night, Sean took Kim to a private cabana overlooking the ocean at sunset for dinner. After several gourmet courses and pink champagne, they headed back to their suite. When Sean opened the door there were rose petals everywhere and hundreds of lit candles. Sean handed Kim a card. “It was such a heartfelt, warm, wonderful card talking about how our love has grown; it was full of reflections on a decade-plus of memories,” says Kim. “As I read further down the card, he asked me to marry him! When I looked up through teary eyes, Sean was on one knee with an open ring box. I started crying harder and hugged him. Then I looked at the ring as he put it on my finger: a custom-made 5-plus carat marquise diamond beauty.” The couple then headed to Orlando, where Sean had Kim’s son, Adrian, and his best friend flown in to meet them. “We all stayed at Disney World for five days and celebrated,” says Kim.

Bachelor & bachelorette party: The couple and their friends dressed in ‘40s and ‘50s attire and went to Bar Deluxe in Salt Lake City to see the Slippery Kittens Burlesque show.
