Slopeside Shindigs
Gather your friends and family and head for the hills—Utah’s ski resorts are a great resource for pre-wedding parties.
Engagement Dinner
Private Dinner at the Viking Yurt at The Canyons
The evening begins with a snowcat-drawn sleighride for all your guests from the base of The Canyons through the resort’s snow-covered aspens and pines, ascending 1,000 vertical feet.
For non-snow bunnies, the sleigh will deliver you directly to the yurt, but if you want a pre-dinner workout, the sleigh will drop you at the Red Pine Lodge, where you can strap on snowshoes or Nordic skis and follow a guide through a winter wonderland to the yurt.
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy hot, spiced “glogg,” live piano music, a gourmet five-course meal and a selection of fine wines. Call 435-615-9878 or visit vikingyurt.com.
Bachelorette Party
Women’s Ski Weekend at Deer Valley
Twice a year, Deer Valley Resort offers a women’s-only ski weekend. Hit the slopes with other women of the same skiing ability while honing your own downhill skills. The programs are specially designed for women by women and are conducted by—you guessed it—women, including top female ski instructors. Advance reservations are necessary. Visit deervalley.com.
Bachelor Party
Off-Trail Skiing at Alta
Grab the guys and head to Alta for a day of guided off-trail skiing in the Grizzly Gulch Bowl, located above Alta in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Step aboard the cabin of a custom snowcat that will take your crew up 10,500 feet to your 375-acre playground. How’s that for wild and crazy? Two guides will escort groups of up to 11 skiers. Visit alta.com.
Bridal Shower
Day of Pampering at the Spa at Sundance
Every bride loves a day at the spa—especially when it’s a day at the spa with her closest girlfriends. The Spa at Sundance Resort has a variety of bridal party packages, including all-day offerings complete with a catered lunch. Try the Native Neroli Body Scrub treatment—Native Americans used the Neroli flower (orange blossoms) ceremoniously to adorn women in times of change. Visit sundanceresort.com
Hit the Slopes!
A day of skiing or snowboarding is an ideal way to relax and unwind with friends and family anytime during your wedding festivities. (Your out-of-town guests will especially enjoy a shot at Utah’s powder.)
