Perfectly Polished
Paula Dahlberg of Salon Keiji in Salt Lake City shares her top tips for beautifully manicured nails.
Think Pink. Most brides stick with pink polishes. You can’t go wrong with OPI’s pink “Passion”—you can wear the shade by itself or incorporate it into a French manicure. It’s a staple polish.
Right White. Shades of white polish range from ivory to frosted white to eggshell. Try matching a shade of white polish to the shade of your dress.
Au Natural. Modern brides are going with a natural nail. Just clean up the cuticle, buff and shape the nail, then add a super shiny clear coat for a fresh, pretty look.
French Chic. Many traditional brides opt for a French manicure—it’s a classic look that never goes out of style.
Color Me Mine. Some brides do bold color on their nails, like red or a trendy dark shade. If you want to try colored polish but still be discreet, paint your fingernails a light pink shade and paint your toenails a fun color that matches your wedding colors.
Faking It. Be careful with acrylic nails—if you’ve never had them before, realize they will take some getting used to. Be gentle with them so you don’t break them before the wedding.
Helping Hands. If you plan to have your nails done the day of the wedding, make the most of your time and enlist your friends or hired professionals to do your hair and makeup while you are getting a manicure.
