Girls Night Out

Hosting a bachelorette bash in Utah? This is the Place.

Girls Night Out

Thanks to the conventions of today’s pop culture, celebrating a bride-to-be’s last days as a single gal is practically synonymous with Las Vegas. But you don’t have to set the scene in Sin City. There are plenty of bachelorette party ideas within our borders (or in one case, just over the state line). From Salt Lake City’s downtown nightlife to Southern Utah’s relaxing spas, here are four ideas that prove it’s possible to throw an unforgettable bachelorette bash without packing too many bags.

Out on the Town

Salt Lake City offers plenty of ways for a bride-to-be and her gals to paint the town red. Start the day with a pole dancing class at Studio Soiree (801-486-0054, studiosoiree.com), which features packages exclusively for bachelorette parties, including private instructions for up to 32 women—you’ll be ready to dance the night away with all the right raunchy moves.

After working up a sweat, relax with a nice dinner. There are many downtown Salt Lake restaurants good for hosting private parties. Want something upscale? Try Cucina Toscana (801-328-3463, cucina-toscana.com) for tasty Tuscan food. Want something less formal? Squatters Pub Brewery (801-363-2739, squatters.com) serves some of the city’s best burgers and beers. For dessert, surprise the bride-to-be with a naughty-themed treat from (M)adam and (St)eve Erotic Bakery (801-466-3738).

Round off the evening at a fun Salt Lake bar or club. Even if drinking isn’t a preferred bachelorette pastime, a nightclub is the best place to put those well-rehearsed dance moves to the test. Known for its loud house music and martinis, the Mynt Martini Lounge (801-355-6968) is the sexiest place to throw a bachelorette bash. The Hotel Bar and Nightclub (801-860-7180 or 801-478-4310, hotelelevate.com) specializes in hosting private functions, including bachelorette parties. Each of the nightclub’s five levels offers something different for a bride-to-be’s taste, including an upscale martini bar and a game room. Keys on Main (801-363-3638, keysonmain.com) is the city’s newest dueling piano nightclub. Located on Main Street (and right on the Gallivan Plaza TRAX stop), the club’s 8,000 square feet has plenty of space for luxurious VIP sections.

Mountain Escape

No matter the season, there’s always something to do in Park City, and the mountain town is the perfect place to sneak away for a night or weekend stay with the girls. If you’re planning a bachelorette bash during the ski season, hit any of Park City’s resorts for a day of skiing or snowboarding. No snow? Enjoy summer activities like hiking and mountain biking, hot air balloon rides and the always-popular Alpine Slide. Check out The Canyons Resort (435-649-5400, thecanyons.com), Deer Valley Resort (435-649-1000, deervalley.com) and Park City Mountain Resort (435-649-8111, parkcitymountain.com).

If you’d rather forgo high-energy activities, spend the day exerting yourselves with some high-dollar shopping at Park City’s swanky boutiques. Located on historic Main Street, Chloe Lane (435-645-9888, mychloelane.com) offers American and European designer clothing, including brands like Rock & Republic, Tricia Fixx and Raw Seven Cashmere. Also on Main Street, Envy Boutique (435-645-0654) sells the latest in posh clothing and accessories, as well as beautiful and unique lingerie—a must stop for a bride-to-be. Head to nearby Whimsy (435-658-4866) for a variety of boutique clothing by brands like True Religion and Hazel.

Live music by local and regional bands rules The Sidecar, a place where the drink prices are low, and the best place in Park City for your bachelorette party to let loose without blowing your budget.

After working up an appetite shopping or on the slopes, dine at one of Park City’s best restaurants. For an upscale evening, the food doesn’t get much better than Chez Betty (435-649-8181, chezbetty.com). Known for its award-winning service, the restaurant features American- and French-inspired dishes that are sure to impress the bride-to-be. As the hottest and busiest sushi joint in Park City, Flying Sumo (435-649-5522) is perfect for a dinner on the town. Shabu (435-645-7253, shabupc.com), named for shabu shabu cooking, a kind of hot pot cookery, doesn’t have private dining areas, but the restaurant does accommodate large parties, and the tasty Asian cuisine is worth rubbing a few elbows with fellow guests.

Top the day off with a night out at a Park City club. Harry O’s (435-655-7579, harryos-pc.com) offers special VIP party packages to ensure a chic and exclusive bachelorette event. Ciseros Nightclub (435-649-5044, ciseros.com) is the place to dance the night away, while live music by local and regional bands rules The Sidecar (435-645-7468, sidecarbar.com), a place where the drink prices are low—the best place for your bachelorette party to let loose without blowing your budget.

Fun in the Sun

If the bride just wants time to wind down, plan an R&R-centered bachelorette party—St. George and Moab are known for their world-class spa treatments. From traditional body wraps to aromatherapy treatments, a spa getaway may be just what the bride and her party need to rejuvenate before the big day.

St. George’s Green Valley Spa (greenvalleyspa.com) offers Girlfriends’ Getaway Packages, as well as spa options for spiritual and fitness packages, while the city’s Red Mountain Spa (redmountainspa.com) offers packages with lodging in a luxury villa suite, resort credit valid toward a 50-minute Sagestone Spa Service, slumber party pajamas and more.

From traditional body wraps to aromatherapy treatments, a spa getaway may be just what the bride and her party need to rejuvenate before the big day.

In Moab, Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge (redcliffslodge.com) allows you to build your own package, including a number of spa treatments and outdoor activities like horseback riding, white-water rafting or a Hummer tour through the Southwestern frontier. Red Cliffs also has its own winery, so you can enjoy a Napa Valley-like wine tour. For the more adventurous bride who still craves pampering, head to Moab’s Sorrel River Ranch Resort (sorrelriver.com), where you can take a scenic flight over Canyonlands National Park or a rafting trip down the Colorado River, with plenty of free time for sipping cocktails and enjoying a riverside massage.

Viva Wendover

If you can’t escape the conventional ingredients of a bachelorette party—gambling, drinking and seeing shows—visit Sin City’s little sister. Just two hours away from Salt Lake, a weekend in Wendover is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of Vegas. Each of the city’s three main hotels offers suite packages for bachelorette parties that will be a relief to your budget compared to Las Vegas’ high-dollar rooms.

Check out Montego Bay (877-666-8346), Peppermill (800-537-0207) or the Rainbow Hotel Casino (800-217-0049). The Peppermill Concert Hall (wendoverfun.com) is becoming a hot spot for concerts and comedians from around the country, and while you won’t catch Celine Dion or Cirque du Soleil, you can still live it up at a performance by REO Speedwagon, Randy Travis, Jay Leno, Carlos Mencia and more, so you can plan your trip around a star-studded show.
