Engaged: Megan & Tanner

May 29, 2009 - 09:34 AM

What do you get when you combine a gorgeous local couple, a tandem bicycle, a field of dandelions, a body of water and an old barn? Stunning engagement photos by Rebekah Westover Photography. Read on for Megan & Tanner's proposal story and check out more of their engagement photos. (The first three are my favorites!)

The couple: Megan Marie Swalberg and Tanner D. Ham

The proposal: “We took a trip to California to visit Tanner’s family, and while we were there we drove to downtown LA to visit with a man who designs custom rings for Wilson Diamonds, where I work in Utah,” says Megan. “We met with him and he designed a ring for me, which he said would be finished in about two weeks.

The next morning Tanner and I drove down to Mission Bay in San Diego, where we rented a sailboat. We sailed around in the bay for about and hour or so when Tanner asked if I'd grab him some candy out of his bag. (I was so mad he had candy and hadn't told me sooner!) I reached into his bag and felt a square box—since I work at Wilson Diamonds I knew the size of this box very well—I couldn't believe it! Tanner had my diamond set in a different ring until my real ring was designed and ready for me.

He got down on one knee—while still steering the boat—and said, ‘Megs, will you marry me?’ I said, ‘Of course!’ and I pulled the ring out of the box and put it on my finger—Tanner told me to take it off so he could actually put it on my finger himself. I was so excited that after two years of dating I was finally engaged to the coolest guy ever!”

The upcoming wedding: June 27, 2009; ceremony at the Salt Lake LDS Temple; reception at Megan’s parent’s house; open house in California, where Tanner is from.

Congratulations Megan and Tanner! Can't wait to see photos from the wedding!
