These Boots Weren't Made for Walking

Me, the new cover and my red cowboy boots
It was the first photo shoot I’d ever been to. As the new intern for Utah Bride & Groom magazine, I knew I would basically be observing and helping with different odds and ends, yet I was still a little nervous. Random thoughts ran through my head the night before: Would it be anything like 13 Going on 30 or The Devil Wears Prada? Would I look like I fit in with the rest of these professionals? And, of course, the age-old question, what should I wear?
Well, I’m happy to say that the photo shoot was not pulled directly from some studio in Hollywood. I think I fit in with the rest of the staff there, but if I didn’t everyone was kind enough to keep it to themselves. And I’m convinced the reason I’m still interning at Utah Bride & Groom is directly related to what I wore that day … the red boots.

Those are my red boots!
The magazine was going for a rustic yet chic feel, so of course Sundance was the perfect backdrop to the photos. It had already been decided that one of the photographs would include the bride wearing a designer gown accompanied by cowboy boots. However, after she had been dressed, primped and positioned for the photo, something just didn’t look right. There was something about the brown cowboy boots that just didn’t work. This was my cue.
As an intern, you always want to “impress the boss”, so to speak. Whether that means offering up a great suggestion, going above and beyond in an assignment, making the perfect cup of coffee or doing all three together, you want to win over the one that can help you with your career. This was my opportunity. Who knew when another one would come along, so I had to strike while the iron was hot. I mustered up all my courage, lifted up my pant leg, and in my most professional voice said, “What about my red ones?”
Now, anyone who knows me knows that I love my red cowboy boots. It started when I was about a year and a half. I used to run around the neighborhood wearing nothing but my diaper and little red cowboy boots. So for me, having my beloved boots in a magazine was kind of a big deal. Now, when I found out that the photo was being considered for the cover, lets just say it became a huge deal.
So there you have it. That is the story of how my red boots saved the day.

The final cover!

Where did you find those red boots? They are AMAZING!!! I'm glad you were wearing them; the cover picture with those boots made me love this issue of the magazine.
